If I have the 16x7 5 star wheels...what disadvantages am I going to have versus buying new rims?

For a 285/70 size tire.... planning on 3" lift + 1" body lift. I don't want to have any rubbing issues whatsoever. Is that even possible?

Yes. Are you sure you want to go the full 3" though? Or do you just mean 2" in front and then 4" out back?

Just to clarify, do you mean 285/75/16? With 2-3" of lift and 1" body lift, you'll have very minimal rubbing. Trimming is very easy, especially with how little you'll need to do. Wheel spacers do increase the amount of rubbing, and consequently the amount of trimming required. However, the pros of wheel spacers, in my opinion, outweigh the intrinsic safety concerns and wear n' tears that spacers can sometimes bring.

I run 1.25" All-Pro spacers. No noticeable day to day problems, but it is just one more thing that can go wrong.

I am running ebay 1.5" spacers/hub adaptors. I had them on for about 2-3 weeks and the front was shaking pretty bad at high speeds (40-60mph). I took them off the front and left them on the rear. I ordered some hub centric rings and reinstalled them on the front last weekend. Still shake, but not near as bad and now only around 50-60 mph. I really dont want to run them because of this. Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do? a few places around town said that Toyotas are known for vibrations when spacers are used and one said I would be replacing ball joints more often.

Any help/suggestions?

I had problems too when I put my Hub centric spacers on. Created some vibes. It magnifies your tire balance issues big time. They went away when I got my tires balanced at Toyota. They balanced them better than any other shop I went to.i would advise taking them to a pretty reputable shop that has the Roadforce balancer.

My spacers/adaptors are not hub centric. I ordered a slip on hub centric plastic ring that is supposed to center the adaptor...

I will take it to a tire shop and have them rebalanced. I hope that fixes it. Thank you for the reply!
