Drain Plug no gasket?

Hello all I have a '03 4Runner Sport and I have changed my oil various times and it's been since my father gave me the truck, about 9 months ago, that I ran it without a drain plug gasket. Do they all have gaskets or does this specific model not? I have an oil leak around the pan or something but it's very minimal since the oil level never goes down at all.

Plug gasket

Most of the time u don’t, but it’s a good idea because if you used a gasket you don’t have to over tight the plug.
I have a 97 4Runner and I never used one.

Alot of times the gasket can get hung up on the pan itself. Next time you change the oil check around the plug area to make sure the gasket is not hanging on the pan. I prefer to use a gasket and change it every time I drop the oil.

Every time I change oil in my 03 V8 the old gasket sticks to the pan.
I always use a new gasket and would recommend same.
As was said, using a gasket should prevent overtightening/stripping threads and is really how system was designed apparently.
