I had to try something as I had just put 2 brand new cats and was still throwing a code on the drivers side. For $8 and a little bit of my time, it was worth it to get that damn CEL off.

FINALLY FIXED after spending $1425, it still needed another $5 fix
Back story/history on my vehicle.
i have installed the following NEW stuff in the last 2000 miles
-drivers pacesetter
-passenger side pacesetter
-NEW OEM RED BOX driver's front O2
-New Denso drivers rear o2
-New Denso pass front o2
-new Denso pass rear o2
-new felpro manifold gaskets
-16 new oem head bolts
-16 new oem head studs
install process in order of occurance
-installed upsteam drivers o2, code still there
-installed downstream drivers sensor, gone was sensor efficiency code
-installed driver's manifold, gone was the p0420 code
-20 miles after drivers' manifold install p0430 code,
-installed pass upstream
-installed pass downstream still p430 code
-installed pass manifold cleared p0430 code
-no codes for 500 miles, then sporatic p0430 code
-installed these Dorman 42009 $5 spacers, cleared p0430 and it has yet to come back!

just to clarify, i had to read his post 2 times to see where he was going with it. but its all good info.
you need 3/8 bit and 1/2 bit
you need wd40 as a lubricant while drilling it out
you need a vice to hold the sucker down
you dont use a vice, you will not drill a perfect hole. you might damage the threads on the spacers.

Here are the spacers. from left to right, spacer with 3/8 hole, spacer with 1/2 hole, o2 sensor so you can see how big the end is and why you need to drill a 1/2" hole.
spacer with 1/2" hole drilled in it already on the o2 sensor
now the spacer with 3/8" hole on top of the other spacer and on top of the other sensor
sensor installed on passenger side rear aka bank 2 sensor 2
its been 200 miles since i did this. i did this @ 3/4 tank. i just filled up the tank 75 miles ago. i usually get the p0430 pop back on when i fill up for the next 30 miles. so i figured now i can report back with positive results. also my car used to get a sulfer smell, now it does not any more. smells sqeuaky clean!
Cant believe after spending $1425 to change everything, i stilled needed $5 spark plug anti fouler to fool the ecu to stop the dreaded p0430 code!

I have been battling this issue since I bought the truck nearly a year ago. I replaced all the O2's, i did the spark plug fouler trick , cleaned all plugs, and sea foam. Each one of these tricks would hold out for a few hundred miles but the code always came back. In the end I got the URD O2 simulator and it is TRUELY the only way to eliminate these codes besides replacing the cats. I use a Ultraguage to monitor the ECU and tell me what is going on and it instantly worked. Theres no pending codes warning or anything. It is the best money Ive spent and worth every penny for the simulator.

No slightly stinky exhaust. Why i say slightly? I had a 2007 Tundra in my shop yesterday with a P0430 and P0420 code. That truck really really stinks.
No more P0430 code.
Fuel economy is too soon to tell, but looks like it is getting 2-3 mpg more. Noticed driveability is better. truck does 75mph @ 1900rpm

That is a great idea, I just wonder how you could reprograme the computer to not look at the codes.

Yeah, when we mod our Audis, we have a tuner code out the Rear o2s, among other things :wink2:

i know in the volvo tuning world, i can order my tune with rear O2 delete. one of the guys even figured out how to do it with a diode!

I was just wondering if you replace both rear o2 sensors? Also anyone having any long term sucess with this?

Replaced all four of them.both manifolds.ended up final with only a p0430, couldn't get rid of that for 500 miles. Did a spark plug spacer mod for $5. It have been almost 1000 miles since then. No issues and mileage has continued to get better and better.

Should never install o2 foulers on the sensors near/closest to the engine.. They(o2 foulers) always go on the rear oxygen sensors..
