With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience
with my family & friends about drinking and driving. As you may know
some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from
time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends.
Well, three days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had
several cocktails, followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly
I still had the sense to know that I may be over the limit. That's when
I did something that I've never done before ... I took a cab home!
Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it
was a cab they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident.
This was a real relief and surprise because I had never driven a cab
before. I don't even know where I got it and now that it's in my garage
I don't know what to do with it!!!

I got a cab for my parents at a recent party I had. It's a $60 ride to their house but so worth it. They love their Tito's. lol.

I also get migraines, haven't drank in 7 years.

I got a dui when I was 21, never drank and drove again.

7 years ago my cousin was killed in drunk driving accident.

My best friend has no legs after being hit by drunk driver.

A few weeks, he's now slowly regaining mobility and intelligence.
 
My friend (as stupid as he is) got three last year...in a three month period. Glad you doged the bullet on that...the financial toll it takes on you and your friends is crazy, and i think the finances is the least important part...

Thanks for doing the right thing.

Wow! I think that should be played over and over where everyone can see it numerous times. Powerful is an understatement especially if you've lost a family member to a drunk driver.

Not making light of this serious issue , we just lost one of our guys from work because he had it bad . Guy I knew was playing in a Q-school event (not gonna say where so cops don't get hip) buzzed outta his gourd DUI checkpoint still had some sense cpl cars back jumped in the back seat & waited it out till cops came back to see WTF , dude my driver jumped outta the car hired him to drive cause I was drunk , too true he got off rental car . But for the grace of god go I , too many times stupid !

Maybe I am ****ing this up. I've read this post multiple times. Someone give me a sanity check.

My perception of this post in a nut shell:

1) Dude goes out and gets trashed.
2) DRIVES a cab home.
3) Passes through a police check point because he is in a cab.
4) Now has a cab in his garage and has no idea where he got it.

WTF? Sounds to me like a "Hang Over" inspired disaster of a night and someone stole a cab. But you know, YOLO or whatever.

Did I miss something?

EXACTLY....the post is kind of a joke. It's a little bit tongue in cheek. I DON'T drink and drive and I certainly don't condone it.

I have my class A CDL and I have a good union job driving a tractor trailer for a local freight company. As a CDL driver my legal limit is half what the normal limit is so I don't EVER drink and drive. My wife and I switch off when we go out to a party or a gathering.

I figure it was either a joke or someone was a gigantic D bag. Glad it was the latter.

I hope you were drunk when you wrote this.
 
What bothers me is that some people get off at .08 here and sent home driving and others get the full blown DUI. I don't get it. I understand you shouldn't drink and drive but alcohol differs with people. A petite girl would be much drunker than say me at .08. If police and MADD don't want you drinking and driving then why not just make the limit .00 and eliminate the guess work?
