Drive shaft/Prop shaft question (Picture Incl.)

Car: 2005 4runner (V8-SR5)

Bought the truck last November. Had the dealer grease everything when I bought it.

Is it normal to have all this grease spattering on the undercarriage above the drive shaft and around this seal?

I DID wipe a lot away with a rag to see if I could get a better look at that seal there, but that area was covered in grease.

EDIT* The grease I wiped away was all black so maybe that was the old stuff coming out. Maybe I should have just left it alone :/

That's normal the grease comes out of the slip joint there which is the cause of the infamous driveline clunk on 4th gens.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure it's not a big deal that I wiped the grease off there as more will likely come oozing out?

At some point when all the extra grease is out it will stop.
And sometime after that it may start to clunk, telling you it's time for a little more grease.
