Driveline vibration 40+ (after trans gets into 5th)

Has anyone else had this issue? Once my 2011 4runner hits 5th gear, usually around 40 - 50 mph, I get a vibration in the driveline.

If I downshift into 4th it goes away. And if I put it into neutral, it goes away. So it is definitely something in the driveline and not tire related.

It only happens in 5th and it sort of goes away on the highway, but it is still noticeable if I am going up a hill in 5th.

Please let me know because I am going to call the dealer and make an appt later today.

Marlin, don't know if this is the same issue, but I had something very similar about one year ago. I did some research and found it was related to a TSB that had been issued. The TSB number is TSB-0175-10. If you google it, there is info on it. I was having a low "growling" noise an slight vibration from the front end at about 40-50mph, most noticeable when the engine was cold. The TSB actually states "TOYOTA: THERE MAY BE A GROWL OR RUMBLE NOISE FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. 210-2011 4RUNNER". It had to do with the front driveline assembly. My dealer immediately recognized it, ordered the parts and fixed it, no questions asked. Hope this helps.
