Driver door smart key unlock

Searched but I couldn't find the answer, sorry if I missed it. We have a 2018 4R limited so it has the smart key and we also have a 2015 Highlander with the smart key. On the Highlander, if I have the key in my pocket and I walk up and put my hand in the driver or passenger door handle, all 4 doors unlock. On the 4R, this only happens on the passenger door handle. If I place my hand in the driver door handle, only the driver door unlocks. Can I change a setting somewhere so that both doors behave like the passenger door?

No, I can already do this with the key fob. I'm looking for a way to do this with the door handle. I'd like to put my hand in the driver side door handle and have that unlock all 4 doors. That's what the passenger door does.

Mine was that way when I got it. It is in the owners manual how to change it.

Believe it's a safety thing so nobody hops in the passenger seat if you were to be alone. Also, my wife has a Rav 4 with the same feature, and it acts just like my Limited with this feature. Only the drivers door unlocks if opened from that side, and all doors unlock when opened with the passenger door.

You can customize that. It is in the manual and can be done at the dealer. I updated mine last year, also changed the headlight timing after you get out of the vehicle. I kept blinding the neighbors.

Didn't cost me anything.

The dealer was able to program my Limited to unlock all doors with the door handle, but were unsuccessful at making it unlock all doors with unlock button on the remote. I could care less about the remote itself since I hardly ever use it.

My bad! I misunderstood the post as only changing the remote behavior not the door handle. You’re right, this did the trick. Now touching the driver door handle unlocks all 4 doors. Thanks!

I can confirm this works on the 2017 LE also. The LCD screen in the gauge cluster also displays which 'mode' is active (i.e. Driver's only or all doors).

There is a youtube video showing how to set this function. YouTube walk up to the car and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob until you hear a few beeps. then pull the door handle, they should all unlock!
