Driver side exterior door handle not working

Everything was fine when I drove to work this morning but just went out to my truck for something and the exterior handle won't open the door.
Yes, it's unlocked. Lol

I can open it no problem from inside but no go from outside. I'll have to investigate when u get home but has anyone else had this problem? Or tips on where to start?

I'd start by pulling the panel and checking the rod that runs from the door handle to the latch mechanism. It's held there by a plastic keeper. If I remember right there's one at both ends, I wasn't paying enough attention.

If you unscrew the lock button the bulky clear plastic guide surrounding that rod will pull up out of your way for better access.

The little plastic keeper that holds the rod on falls off/breaks. It's not that uncommon. Easy fix though. Pull the door panel & either replace the keeper with a new one or just place the rod back in the handle and use a small zip tie to hold it on.

I got it fixed. Thanks a lot guys. It went smooth and even put a new reverse switch in so my backup lights work again :thumb3:
