Driver side passenger door won't open

Good morning all!

Well iv been letting this go and somehow had myself believing that one day the door would just work again....ya right....like that EVER works! :)

In any case the door lock plunger seems to still be connected to the lock mechanism as it pops a little when i actuate the power door lock... Also i can feel some resistance in the door opener from the inside too but no luck opening the door... Im all ears if anyone has come across this one and how did you get it fixed?

So the lock rod is stuck? What happens when u pull up on the lock tab. You will probably need to remove the door trim panel to directly access the rods where they connect to the lock mechanism. Its not impossible but it is difficult to do.
 
The lock rod appears to still be attached.... As mentioned it does jump a bit when i actuate the power door lock button on the driver door....

I am curious if you have been able to get the door open yet. I am having the same problem with my '03 on the front passenger door. Dealership said the actuator probably went bad but they don't know how to remove the door panel with the door stuck shut.

Would love to know if you were successful in getting yours open, if so how.
 
Sorry .....nothing yet..

Im thinking ill get some lock place to open the door with a slim jim then i can take the door panel off then get to work...
 
Well, no guarantees, but I would try this...

Get your heaviest friend, hopefully with a large soft posterior, to apply as much inward force as possible to the outside of the door with their derrière , while you try the unlock button and the handle from the inside. Park near a tree, wall or post to allow possessor of said bum to add force with his/her arms. If there is any force left in the actuator, it might pop the lock open. This has worked for me on the back door in a similar situation. Big butts are the ideal implement for this as they spread the force over a large, soft surface and so will not damage your sheet metal.

I had my driver side door do this to me. At first it didn't open from inside, next day it didn't open from inside or outside. I was lost !! But if your patient and cautious. You can remove the door panel with the door closed. Ask me how I know this ! I removed the door panel with only breaking one plastic pin. I repeat. It is possible to remove the door panel with the door closed. Just need to remove few screws and pry on it slowly and steady. After I removed the door panel, I noticed the metal rod that connects to the handle to open the door was interfering with the lock mechanism and since it was out of place the window wouldn't roll down all the way. But I fixed allsnd thank god I removed the panel with door closed.

I'd never discount the abilities of a woman,no matter what age.

I would be real careful with that. In the 90's I had a jeep and the seat needed a "little" adjustment. I pulled it and stuck the top under the frame so I could lean on the side and leg press the seat. It worked and I had a large dent in the side of the jeep from my rear end
