Driving in the rain

This morning while driving to work in the rain, I ran through a small patch of water running across the road. This caused my 4Runner to push to the left and almost into the curb. It wasn't a lot of water and it wasn't moving very fast. It wasn't a hydroplane, been in that before. I've got good tread on the tires. Any suggestions on what I should look at, alignment, steering issues, etc.?

Were you going straight or around a curve when this happened?

Also, what tires are you running?

The water doesn't need to be moving fast. How fast were YOU going through it?

Nothing on the vehicle needs to be looked at.

If you are driving fast and go through a deep puddle on one side of the road, drag increases significantly on that side of the vehicle and it will pull you to that side.

Slow down in those conditions.

That's pretty typical. Its just physics. When you add a lot of drag to one side of the vehicle it will be pulled in that direction. Water, snow, slush, sand... will all do the same thing. Ive seen cars get sucked right into the median on a highway when they hit the shoulder slush with their wheels...

It's normal. Larger tires will make these puddle experiences even more "fun". 285s and up seem to multiply the drag greatly
