DRL Disable Problem/ viper alarm problem

to start things off i have an 01 sr5, and i wanted to disable my DRL

read through the Yotatech how to guide, and cut the black/yellow striped wire as directed....

now i have no headlights at all.......

any idea why, or what needs to be done to keep the DRL's off, but help me regain my normal headlight functions?

My only guess is that you cut the wrong wire, which it sounds like you didn't do.

Maybe the wires were different in your 4runner for some reason.

I'm not sure if it's true, but SOME 4Runners can have different wired colors (I think...). Did you make sure it was Pin 12?

Either way, I'd reconnect that wire before you do any permenant damage.

That is odd you'd loose your headlights with cutting your yel/blk wire like you've said you've done.

Like others have said, first confirm you cut the Pin 12 wire. (Although a slim chance, your Pin 12 wire very well could've been a different color.) If in fact you cut Pin 12, try reconnecting it (I know it's a tight fit under there) and see if you regain your headlights.

...... you are all gonna think im a complete spazz, but i forgot to plug the wiring harness back in. so i now have headlights, .... but at least my DRL's are off :p

PROBLEM 2!!!!!!

my viper 3002 alarm system does not function now...... the little blue alarm light is constantly on when the keys are out of the ignition, and when i lock the car with my remote, it doesnt beep or set the alarm. it just locks the doors.......

any ideas?

now im going to further your opinion of my spazz like tendencies.... yes it was in valet, and i fixed it :bash: :p :D

now i just have to wait for my LED tails :D

im going to blame the stress of work combined with the new years holiday to get this done. it was a rush job, and i didnt think things out

but in all fairness i probably would have never even considered attempting that unless you were all here. helped give me the knowledge i needed to do the job right.

Any reason you guys aren't pulling the connection like on this thread: http://www.yotatech.com/f2/daytime-running-light-switch-pic-151447/
If I can find that connection I am going to give it a try...maybe this is only for 2000?

Correct, that link only applies to '00 4Runners. The drl box is located in the engine bay, mounted in between the battery and fender. You can just unplug it and effectively disable your drls.

For '01 & '02 4Runners, the drl system is wired completely different. Thus the reason to cut the yel/blk wire at Pin 12 on the drl module under the dash.
