DRL not working after Fog Light Mod

I just did the fog light mod on my 2004 V6 Forerunner and my DRL do not stay on, only fog lights and turn signal stay on. I need to mention that I did have to replace relay because I did break off a tab on the install. The relay is not OEM due to cost, I purchased at O'Reilly's.

I did the mod on my 2005, still have DRLs working as normal, except I can switch the fogs on whenever I want.

What do you mean the DRLs do not stay on, like when the headlights are turned on?

I'm a little bit confused, it looks like your DRL's (amber lenses toward the left and right sides of the vehicle) are staying on, and your fog lights (clear lens toward the middle of the vehicle) turn off, which is what is supposed to happen.

correct, but aren't the amber lights beside the headlight supposed to stay on also

Only on '06 and newer 4Runners, which have no DRLs in the bumper.

It's a bummer I know. I prefer the look of the '06 headlights as well. You can swap them in, there's a few threads on here about that.


Alternatively, you probably could rewire the amber lights next to the headlights to function as DRL's. It would take some work though.
