Hey T4R,
I've been planning and buying parts for a dual battery setup for a while and I am finalizing the plan before I buy the cables.
I am trying to make a beefy setup because I would like to use my winch with the batteries in parallel so I can share the load between both batteries.
That's where my knowledge falls short and I am unsure of what size the cables and fuse should be to handle that much load. (For reference, my Warn Zeon 10-S platinum spec sheet is stating that at full 10,000 lbs pull, the load could be up to about 400 amps)
My plan is to use 2/0 AWG for both positives and negatives and using a 300a fuse. I am also planning to upgrade the OEM ground to 2/0 AWG.
Here's the schematic of my planned build:
A couple points:
-I would be considering upgrading the alternator in the future, but in the meantime, I will be using a battery tender once in a while.
-I have no plan to purchase a DC-DC charger for now, simply to not overcomplicate my build.
-I am using, and already installed, the shrockworks dual battery kit, their ACR and fuse mounting tray and their power distribution module.
-I realize that 2 AWG is probably overkill for my bussmann relay box.. but I already have the 100 amp circuit breaker in hand and it would be overkill for 4 AWG cables
I would greatly appreciate tips and comments before I commit to buy my cabling and install it all!
