Dumb Electronics Question ('02 SE)

Hey all, I have a bit of a dumb question (I'm a total novice) that I'm sure more than a few of you will be able to answer. I have a 2002 SE with leather seats. The seats are manual and have no heat. So here's my question: when I look under the seat, I can see wires (clipped into more wires that appear to go into the seat) running under both the driver's and passenger's seat. What are these for? At first I thought that they were wiring for the rear heat, but that can't be the case since the wiring is under each seat. Does anyone have any ideas? As always, I appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide.

I'd say they are sensors for the seatbelts or sensors for the airbag.

Huh. That makes total sense. Guess I can stop hoping that the seats are pre-wired for heat then. . .
