Dura Trac vs Cooper

I'm getting new tires 255/75/17. I have it down to three, the Duratracs, the Cooper A/T3 and the Cooper A/T W. Leaning toward the Duratracs. I live in the mountains of NC. We will have a lot of snow and I drive on steep terrain. This is my daily driver and I do no off roading. I have 5100s all around. '04 limited V8. Just wanting some advice. I have read a lot of threads about the Duratracs, one of the reasons I am leaning toward them. I think they look better also.

I've had the cooper AT-W for almost a year now and I love them in any type of snow and ice. Highway noise is acceptable for an AT type tire, it's my first AT tire so the noise was noticeable at first.

The issue with the Cooper is balancing them. I was told by my tire guy that coopers tend to have high spots and have a slight vibration at high speeds. Hard to balance an out of round tire.

I'm on the fence if I would buy coopers again b/c I do lots of highway road trips. traction is really good in inclement weather, deep water or deep snow is no issue.

I went through the mud once and it did well, I didn't really push it though. They're great in the winter. That's my opinion of them.

I agree with the balancing issue. I loved everything else about my A/T3's, except for that. Which is why I'm going BFG KO2 this next go around.

I'm putting the AT/W's on mine next week. It's a daily driver and I want an AT that's winter biased for the wife & kids. Had these Revo 2's on here since I had 5k on the clock; 61.3k today. Getting quite loud and noticeably less traction even on wet; so it's time. Hope the balancing aspect doesn't become an issue.

In between KO2's and duratracs myself. Really need that winter snow reliability the others don't seem to have. Why no interest in the KO2's if you didn't mind me asking?

I've had my Duratracs on for about 5k miles now. They're pretty quiet compared to the General Grabber AT2s on my Tacoma at highway speeds. No vibration issues. Before lift I was rubbing on the driver side mud flap, and the passenger side fender lining at full lock either direction. After lift driver side is clear, but I still get a very slight rub at full lock on the passenger side.

I've had my Dura Tracs for close to 10k now and they are as loud as my old BFG Mud T/A's. Originally, they were pretty quiet, compared to other dual purpose tires I've had in the past, but I had been warned that the older the Dura Tracs get, the louder they get. They were right. Not that it's a bad thing. I play my stereo really loud so I do not really notice or care. That being said, with 10k on these tires, the tread still looks brand new! Excellent for wear.

I had BFGs once on a Tacoma. I didn't like how they handled in the snow. Never had them on one of my 4runners though and I have had 4. I also just prefer the appearance of the Duratracs.

HATED my Coopers. Constant balancing problems. Eventually found worn spot after about 20k miles and got rid of them. Won't ever buy them again.
