Duratrac 255/75r17 - No Lift Question

Does anyone have experience running the Duratracs at 255/75417 with no lift? Is there a chance it would work? I know the lift guide on the forum says to have a lift inch on the front but was wondering if there was any real world experience with these tires.

If lift required would the daystar 1" in the front be the best bet with Xreas suspension?

FWIW, the lift and tire sticky is based on real world experience, that's why it's really all you need. Yes you'll rub like crazy and will need some sort of lift to save some chopping up the fender liner and bumper. Even with a lift you'll likely need to move the fender liners forward and remove the mud flaps (especially if you have spacers or a wider offset wheel). The leveling kit will help, but even with 3" lift I had to move the fender liners forward and remove the front mud flaps (my 265/70/17 are a hair shorter too)

I ran 255/75/17 mtr with no lift for like four months, only rubbed in reverse and in certain cases off-road. They're a close fit but they work. Didn't move fender liners but I did take off mud flaps (mainly cause I thought it looked better without them)

I ran bfg kms in that size on my fourth gen without a lift and they fit. I put a daystar 2.5 on and had plenty of room. 255/80 is a different story though.

i ran 255/70/18's bfg rugged terrains for about 8 months before i lifted my truck and had no rubbing problems stock. every tire is a bit different as far as size

I've pretty much conceded my desire to run the 255/80's because it just makes more sense to run the 255/75 on my daily driver. I am leveling the truck with bilsteins (second notch/.85), but was also considering Moog fj coils. Which on my v8 would likely yield a 1.5/.5 lift when using the bilsteins on the .85 notch.

But, depending on your tail, I might just have to get the 80's.

Lift doesn't change trimming, you can stuff a 35 stock height. Alignment, wheel offset, bump stops and trimming determine tire fitment.

I'm running Duratrac 255/75/17 on my 06 and still rub in reverse with this setup:

Moog FJ Springs
Bilstein 5100's set at 2.25" front
Rear Daystar 1.5" spacer

No matter how many times this is stated, I feel the question "Will tire size (insert here) fit with/without lift" in some format will continue to be asked.

Why?

I'll provide you with my real world experience. I just bought my 2008 V6 Limited about 6 weeks ago. Within a week I bought and installed Duratrac's in 255/75/R17 on TRD Pro 17x7" wheels. My truck is 100% stock with XREAS...no lift of any kind.

I had minor rubbing that was COMPLETELY eliminated by doing the following:

• Removing the front mud flaps
• Relocating the front edge of the front fender liners about 1.5" forward by unscrewing the fasteners and redrilling new mounting holes

That's it...nothing more. I didn't even have to remove the rear mud flaps although the tires get REALLY close to them!

I've taken the truck out on some moderate offroad terrain too with no rubbing anywhere.

That's my experience with 255/75/R17 on a stock truck.
