DuraTrac tires

Those of you that have the DuraTrac tires, did your gas milage decrease when you got them? Or did it just stay the same? I'm looking to get 265/75R16 size Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires but don't want my gas milage to decrease!

I didnt see any major decrease in my fuel milage.

My mileage stayed about the same, after I accounted for the tire size difference. Bigger tires are going to be heavier, no matter what brand you go with, and it makes your gearing taller as well, so it's pretty hard to determine if the tire being a Duratrac had anything to do with any mileage changes you may experience.

The tire has little to do with it unless its just some gnarly tread pattern. Its the difference in size between your current size and size you're going to. My stock size was 265/65/16 and I went to a 315/75/16. Yes my mileage went down but my miles also go on slower due to the gauge being off.

The tires load rating

Can also impact whether or not youll experience a reduction in MPG b/c the higher the rating the heavier the tire due to the additional plys used to achieve that rating. P rating being the lightest and E being the heaviest.

Slight decrease going from fairly-worn Wrangler RT/S in 265/70 to Duratrac in 265/75. Accounting for circumference and odometer changes, I'd say between 2-4% decrease overall. And I love the tires...so that small decrease was worth it!

Yes, noticed a slight decrease. But again, was expected with upgrade to 265/75's. No regrets.

Yes, it really does depend on what kind of tire you're replacing. I went from 245/65/16 pizza-cutter street tires to 265/75/16 Duratracs and lost about 2 miles/gallon. No regrets, though.

what type of tires are they? highway treads? all terrains? because i had yokahama h/t's and went to duratracs so it was a big step.

I have on right now, Bravo H/T Maxxis 760. Thats what it says they are called on the tire, these are what came with my 4runner when i bought it from the dealer

then you might see a drop just because of the tread on the duratracs. not to much

i really dont know the exact number. but i commute every day and i fill up every like week and a half

My other options are 265/70/16 General Grabber AT2 or BFG AT's. Goodyear does not make the duratrac in the stock 4 runner size.

I could be wrong but they also don't make a BFG AT in a 265/70/16 anymore. I didn't see it under the sizes available on their website

You want higher rolling resistance tires but dont want less mileage... slight impact, but worth it. Less than 1mpg. Do the arithmetic, its not worth considering.
