Duratracs on my new 2010 Trail

Just picked her up yesterday and immediately got some new shoes. I went with the Goodyear Duratrac LT265/70R17 E-load and love the way they look. They ride just fine and they are quite quiet for such an aggressive tire. I'm looking forward to testing them out here in Arizona. BTW, I'm running 44psi in each tire (thanks for the info SeattleMike). :hatsoff:

Thanks. No, I didn't upsize, but the aggressive tread gives the appearance that they're larger.

Glad to hear that you still like yours after putting some miles on them. Based on the reviews, it seems like this tire is great for SUVs, but not so good for the heavy pick-up trucks. There are a lot of complaints about squishiness--even on the E-loads--but those are from people with 3/4-ton diesels and so on. I am glad I went ahead with the Duratracs and I'll be even happier, I'm sure, once I try them out in an off-road situation.

They do make a big, big difference. The truck looks so much better with more aggressive tires. Of course, it should perform better as well.

Sorry if this is a noob question, but what did you do with the old tires? I'm thinking about buying new tires on delivery day too, but I'm not sure what my options are for the "old" tires.

A lot of people are getting their new tires from Discount Tire and trading in the stock ones for a credit (usually $75 per tire). At the Discount Tire I went to, however, they would only give me $50 per tire so I just kept them. Brand new, the stock tires cost over $700 for the set of four and I didn't feel that a $200 trade on tires with 31 miles on them was fair. They are now sitting in my garage and are listed on Craigslist. We'll see what happens.

A lot of tire shops won't do a trade-in. At least Discount is willing to if you don't want to hassle with the stock tires. They do take up a lot of space in the garage. Good thing the wife's car is small!!!

It was. I got a call yesterday morning and had them sold by noon. I got $325 out of them and didn't have to make a special trip to get them to him. That's way better than the $200 Discount Tire offered me.

Not bad at all. You can tell that you're not riding on all-season touring tires, but beyond that, the noise is hardly noticeable. We put a couple of hundred miles on it yesterday and we were going 70 mph, had the radio on, and could still talk in normal voices. In fact, the 4Runner with Duratracs is much quieter than our 2009 Honda Fit, which has no sound insulation at all. I hope that helps.

I just sold 4 tires. I didn't change out the spare.

On another note, I now have 2500 miles on the Duratracs and love them. They've performed flawlessly off-road and their on-road performance is great too. I would definitely buy them if you're considering them.
