Duratracs on stock limited w/RAS?

Despite scouring many threads, I am still not sure what my options are. Stock tire on limited is 265/60/18. Closest size Duratrac is 275/65/18. I suspect there will be some rubbing with these. Has anyone tried it and if so can you tell me what to expect? Because of the RAS I think the most I can do for a lift is a leveling kit up front. I can alter rear height a bit with RAS but ride quality will suffer.

I really like the Duratracs, hoping I have some reasonable options.

that's a 32"x11" tire you should only have to expect some minor trimming of the front fender area's. You'll just trim the bumper slightly and move the plastic fender liner forward then cut a little off the rear of the front fender flare.

When they get mounted you should be able to drive around without major rubbing it will just be when you go over bumps or pull over a curb into a drive way that you may rub. and then your only rubbing plastic no big issue. The rear should be fine without using the RAS theres a bit more room in those fender wells you'll have to remove any front mud flaps as well the rear flaps should be fine.

After a few months of procrastination I'm again looking at tire options.

I appreciate the feedback but it seems a bit optimistic? The suspension sticky indicates a 3/2 lift is needed to fit the comparably sized 275/70/17?

Has anyone actually tried to fit 18" Duratracs on a stock 06 Limited?

you would probably need to get 1.25" spidrtrax spacers to fit those. Height wise they should fit. Unfortunately the width of the 275 is a problem.

A 275/65/18 Duratrac with no lift is going to be a very tough fit. It will require moving the fender well liner forward a few inches and trimming/removing the front mud flaps. They're not that tall with a lift, but on stock height, you will have a lot of random rubbing while driving (potholes, incline changes, speed bumps). I wouldn't wheel with that setup but on road you could probably figure it out.

I've read a lot about tires since I have the same set up in my 4Runner.

I think your only option if you absolutely have to have those Duratracs in that size is to put the Daystar 2.5 spacer in your front and adjust the rear air suspension up an inch and a half or so. You might also need spidertrax wheel spacers but I'm not positive on that one.

Then you will still have to move the fender liner, trim some plastic and or remove your front mud flaps but at that point you should have very minimal rubbing, from what I have heard from others.

I have this suspension set up and I don't have any issues with it. I couldn't even tell you if it rides worse than stock because the difference to me is minimal.

I'm running a different brand of tire but the same size (275/65/18) with a 3.5"/2.5" lift and I still had to move the inner fenders forward and I've got some rub on the mud flaps. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet about the mud flaps but I can say confidently that these would not have fit on my truck with stock suspension.

Geez, lots to consider.

At this point, although I like the limited wheels I am beginning to think maybe I need to drop down to a 17". Not only would this allow me to get the Duratrac in a size that is an easier fit, but I can also drop to load C instead of E. I like the 17" sport wheels and they seem to be pretty readily available for a reasonable price. The FJ / Trail Edition wheels are nice, but from what I've seen cost 2-3x as much as the sport wheels.

Anyone have either of these 17" wheels with Duratracs (optimally on a White rig)? I've done some browsing/searching but searching for specific images is not an easy thing to do.

I'm running 265 70/17 Load C Duratracs. They fit with some very minor rubbing on the inner fender liner. Sorry it's not white.

I finally pulled the trigger on the Duratracs and have an appt to get them mounted/balanced on Thursday. I've installed the Daystar 2.5" up front, All-pro 1.25" spacers and leveled out with the RAS tweak. I've also removed the front mud flaps and moved the fender liners forward.

You noted "trim some plastic" - I am guessing based on the eyeball test this is likely to be the corner of the fender in front of the tire? I'm trying to avoid trimming until the tires are mounted so I can minimize it. Do you recall what specifically and how much needed to be trimmed? My hope is that I've done enough already to allow me to drive home from the shop before any final trimming. It's a short (~2 mile) drive on flat, residential roads.

just the corners of the fenders, you may or may not require trimming, id get the tires on first and then test it and trim if needed.

my 4Runner required a lot more work to fit these than any others Ive read about, I have no idea why. I trimmed plastic, moved liners, I even had a body mount chop and I STILL rub when turning and hitting bumps at the same time, its a lot less than before but I still rub.

only way for me to get rid of it is a legitimate suspension lift of around 3", one of these days.

you'll enjoy the tires though, especially if you have to drive in winter conditions. only negatives about switching to them is slightly more humming(very minimal) and the truck has less pep when accelerating due to the increase in weight. other than those two things they are awesome. oh and of course reduced gas mileage but that's obvious.

I went from michelin latitudes to duratracs so its a completely different tire.

I'm running a similar setup (2.5" lift and 275/65 Duratracs with 1.25" spacers). With the trimming you've done, you should be fine. You may or may not need to trim the corner of the fenders, but it shouldn't be enough to prevent you from getting home.
