I have the Duratracs in 275/65/18 Load Range E and have had zero issues with them. I often tow a quad trailer in the dunes with the tires aired down to 12-15 PSI and they squat nicely for sand use. Pulling the trailer in soft sand is like dragging around a boat anchor and the 4Runner does great pulling it around to the camp sites.
I normally run the tires around 40-45 PSI and have even tread wear without any flat spot or bouncing others are describing. In my experience they are a great tire with an aggressive look, great all around traction in snow, rain, sand, a little mud (I usually steer clear of mud pits), and dry performance. They also run quiet on the highway which is a big plus for me.
I have had BFG's in both AT and the original MT. The MT's were good off-road but the pavement and icy snow performance left much to be desired. They were also quite loud being a full MT which isn't something I wanted for the 4Runner. The BFG AT's are great and are tread-wear warrantied which is nice. Personally I just don't really like the look of them with the dated tread pattern. I did alot of tire research before deciding and the Duratracs fit the bill for me because they have the performance and the more aggressive look i was after without any of the drawbacks associated with MT's.
