E-Brake Idiot Light ON

The dashboard light for the hand brake comes on and goes off by itself on my '99 and playing with the handle doesn't seem to make a difference.

What's the fix here?

check the connector and or switch. it is located on the handle under the console. that should give you some idea as to what is going on. pretty simple.

Or check the brake oil level. The light comes on when the fluid level is low.

you either have a leak, or more likely, need a brake job.

Just had a break job not too long ago, fluid level didn't occur to me.
I'll check it tonight.

yeah brake level, or that sensor, also from previous experience on a Honda i owned the brake light stayed on when there was a brake light bulb out but that may not be the case with Toyota.

All brake lights working, fluid level in the reservoir is good.

Light is intermittently on, so I'll check the connector and switch. Do I need to remove the console to get to it?
