E-Brake light is on

Is it overkill to apply the e-brake every time vs. only when on incline/decline? Will this lead to issues down the road?

I always use the e-brake to park supposedly that keeps from rolling into the transmission

well I finally figured it all out. You can either do one of two things. Buy a new cap for the master cylinder, or unplug the thing and check it the old fashion way. either way will make the light go out. By the way, this also fixed the cruise controll problem. Thanks to all who responded.:awais:

I had the same problem with mine. I would unplug it and the light would go out and eventually come back on. I just swapped the caps out from my parts truck. Cool about the cruise control. Im going to see if mine is working now that my light is off. I think my cruise issue lies in the buttons.

Nope. Quite the opposite actually, regularly exercising the ebrake keeps it functional, and keeps the rear drums well adjusted.

also frequent use exercises all the cables and connections, which will help to keep them from seizing up. a very common problem for park brake systems in general.
