E-locker help please!

So I went out today and used my e-locker. Went to turn it off and it will not disengage. I cut the wheel, went slow, went in R, went in 2wd, went in 4wd and every other combination with no results.

My 4 runner was not factory with an e-locker so I have the 12v Guy harness for mine. I removed the motor and flicked the switch and nothing happens with the motor just hanging there. When I lock and unlock with a screwdriver the light on my switch will still register On/Off.

Am I looking at replacing the motor? Is there any easy way to test or repair the motor?

any help Is appreciated

Flip the switch so it is trying to engage/disengage and tap it with a hammer. There is likely some corrosion on the contacts

Tried that while I was out there with no luck.
But upon further inspection of the harness I found a blue wire at the end of the 12v guy harness that looks to have pulled from the plug.
I have contacted 12v guy to see what if that could be where my problem is coming from, and waiting to hear back.

I have his harness as well, all the prongs pulled out of his plug in short order, so I ended up just soldering it together.

Do you think this would be my best bet, instead of just fixing the one wire? I'd rather it not be a continuing problem.

Yea, there is a tool to put those prongs in, and I don't have one...soldering is simple. It would just be more of a chore if you ever have to pull out the motor to clean the contacts or something.

Although I suppose you could just get clip on male and female blade connectors

Are you guys talking about the plugs that plug in to the E-locker motor?
I'll be doing my E-locker soon and will be using the same wire kit, If wires pulling out of the plug is a common issue with the kit, Would it be better if I used the OEM plugs with pig tail and solder the wires from 12voltguy to it?

Well I soldered them and it looks like that was not a good idea. Of coarse I figured broken wire.. that's gotta be my problem, but nope. Still nothing.

I left the ignition on for awhile while I was messing with it and my solenoid and motor are now burning hot along with some heat in the harness. Any ideas?

Sounds like the contacts are corroded; you can try to clean it up, fairly easy

Thanks, ill bring it in and check it tonight.

I wish the cable conversions weren't so damn expensive.

I agree the motors are kinda a pain. Worst comes to worst we have a couple used units on the shelf here I think we can let go

Hey, if you guys don't like the 12voltguy wiring kit and want an easily serviceable harness, the lowrangeoffroad one is a pretty awesome setup from what I understand. It uses the factory harness at the motor so it's easily disconnect able in case of such a situation where you need to service the locker motor. Thought I'd throw that out into the mix. I personally haven't used it, but I've read positive things about it. I spent the extra $75 on the donor vehicle and went with factory wiring all the way to the kick panel for my setup(pain in the ass, but I was anal with factory fit and finish). Keep us posted if you make any progress with the existing motor, love to see if a new motor is the fix or if there's some other issue.

I would talk to the 12 volt guy since it might be related to his harness? , before replacing it. If you need to replace it though contact Chase at ECGS, or Dous (Casey) can hook you up,

:couch2:
