East coast rock sliders

So I love the looks of the RSG rock sliders but $175 in shipping is killing me. Are there any east coast manufacturers (preferably New England or close by) of quality rock sliders. Closest I've been able to find is Bud Built in NC but shipping from there is still $150. Spending 25% of the cost of sliders on FedEx just doesn't sit well if I can find something closer I can pick up. And yes, I know they are heavy and I'm not accusing anyone of trying to overcharge, just prefer my dollars go into the product, not into shipping. TIA.:fishing:

True 'nuff but I'm trying to stay in the $600 price range all in. Sliders with plate and powder coat push that pretty hard but I can get close if I can find someplace within driving distance where I can pick them up. Of course I could plan a road trip...:frog:

Yup but 6% of $600 is $36, not $175 in shipping. There just don't seem to be a lot of options on the East coast, especially up here in New England. Oh well, I'm signed up for a couple of group buys. We'll see what shakes out.

You can plan on painting them yourself, saves quite a bit over p/c’ing them.

Talk to Mainline Overland. See if they have anything in stock. I think they're a CBI vendor as well. If you buy through them they might do free shipping. They were willing to do that for a bumper but i don't know about sliders.

You're infuriating the Canadians by complaining about $175 shipping.
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with any 4runner specific sliders on the east coast-- which seems like a reasonable request from you-- don't get me wrong.

So that being said, you should get the ones you want. RSG has some really cool offerings lately, with $100 off.

I also have had great experiences with metaltech in oregon. I got a smoking deal on a group buy, drove 2 hours to pick them up at my USA mailbox, paid a small fortune in taxes at the border, and drove back home.

With the cost of gas being close to $5/gal for me, our lovely 15% at the border, piss poor exchange, and shipping to maine, as well as my personal cost of a saturday (which is worth more and more the older I get... as it seems) well, $175 seems like a drop in the bucket.

I have to keep peace in the family and the boss isn't convinced on the rock sliders, especially since the most we usually do is back roads and a few forest roads. I'm trying to convince her they make a nice step since she has to reach a bit to get into the pro. And the Toyota steps are almost the same price and don't do a thing for protection.:spit:

Like others have said, don't get them powder coated. Better to paint them yourself and you can use that savings to offset the shipping price.

So by painting myself and saving $100 with the April discount my new flat RSG sliders with top plate are on the way.:clap2:

Weird thing is shipping dropped by almost $50 overnight from yesterday.:shrug:

I think POR gloss black might be a good paint choice. $125 a gallon but I have had great luck with POR on rusty metal so I expect it would do well on fresh as well. And it will go with my gloss black Pro!

I am married, and your reasoning above, is what I used to win the wife over on the RSG sliders.

She is 5'2. Since we have been married, I have had an F150 and a Tundra. Neither had steps, as I don't like "steps". With the 4Runner, there was no need for steps.. yet she still wanted some. I told her to pick some out, which were like $380. I showed her the RSGs and told her they're not plastic, and are just a little more than the OEMs.. so she agreed. Now we have RSG sliders, and she is as happy as can be. Although, it is taking me some time to get used to them being there. I have drug my pant leg across them for almost a week now, while getting in and out lol.

You could probably have them powdercoated locally for $75 or so. They can do 40% semi gloss black, and they would be close to your paint color.

Like others have said, don't get them powder coated. Better to paint them yourself and you can use that savings to offset the shipping price.

Here in the land of too much road salt I just started painting mine so that when they get beat up or the surface rust starts I can easily repaint them.
