Just my $.02 on PC'ing sliders:

after 2 winters, I took mine off, sandblasted, etch primed, and painted with rustoleum hammertone.
The hammertone stood up to this latest winter like a champion! And it touched up very well during wheeling season
here's what the undersides looked like after 2 winters. Nothing the sandblaster couldn't handle.
edit - I posted this because a vermont winter is awfully close to a new brunswick winter.
POR 15 would be a superior finish. If rust did bleed through, it could probably be touched up to good effect.
However it would take a lot more effort to sandblast and start fresh though. Good luck!

Those are OPOR (outpost offroad) from metaltech.
I work in structural steel, and those welds make me very happy

My other "Car" is a 2013 F350 diesel. Steps weren't a question on that one, it sits quite a bit higher than the 4Runner. But the RSG's are going to a nice addition.

I like the hammertone paint
My N Fab steps and Fab Fours bumper on my Tundra both needed redone after a few years.
That was when I swore off powder coat.
I brush paint Rustoleum on the inside of bumpers, several coats.
The visible areas get spray painted. It'll outlast powder coat and a trip to Lowe's and afternoon in the garage has it looking like new.

Your winters must be getting milder. I cleaned, wet sanded and primered my sliders then sprayed them with several coats of Rust-Oleum and they rusted like an sob after only one winter. I'll never depend on that crap again!

No matter how you paint or powder coat, the salt and brine they use up here will take a toll. I've had good luck with POR stopping rust but it will be polished away by salt, brine, dirt and other debris. So it and anything else will have to be restored on a regular basis. I Fluid Film my vehicles every spring and fall to keep rust at bay but that is pretty well worn off by the end of the winter. Of course this year winters seems to be endless.

Tell me about it. I'm dying to get outside to paint my winch mount, but it's just too damn cold. Forecasters are teasing us with 65° for next Saturday. Let's hope that holds true.
