I believe he decided to keep the truck. My understanding was he didn't want to fully build the tundra and have it's on road performance suffer. Check out [MENTION=129084]Flemster[/MENTION]'s latest video on YouTube. Kyle's rig is in there a few times

I just recently realized most of the pictures are back in this old thing.....
But quick update for those that care!
My 4runner is in the garage..... I have diffs with 5.29s sitting next to it.... the front equipped with an ARB and the rear keeping the e-locker.
I've left my tundra alone.... which turns out to have been for the best! My wife's little vintage business has really boomed over the last year. She is towing this nearly every week.

I've been using the 4Runner quite a bit but am honestly around the internet socially less and less. I've just been busy with a new job, helping my wife get her stuff built, and doin life stuff. Things are going fantastic! I really appreciate ya'll who still care about this project. I'll try to keep some updates on it.
I'm stoked Alex got a few shots of the truck in his video! I was leading the group that day for most of it and didn't think I'd show up much in it. I'll also be out with pretty much that same ol' crew in Moab again in 2 weeks so hope to catch some more.

Good to hear things are going well for you and the 4runner Kyle. I talked to [MENTION=78892]Fishwerks[/MENTION] a couple weeks back and it looks like Ill be wheeling with your group on the 11th in Moab. It'll be sweet to get to check out your rig in person!

It looks it, we have nothing like that on the East Coast. We have technical stuff at the off road parks to test our skills & rigs but that looks so much more grueling. I drive a manual & my left calf was cramping up just watching that video! LOL

Haha ya I'm also in a manual trans.... I feel like I should have a pedal cam on trails like that. The really slow version of Ken Block sorta thing.
I've driven that trail 4-5 times now and it's more absurd everytime. . I think we were on that trail last time for about 8 hours driving just constant thrashing. The more dug/washed out it gets.. it's a lot of fun but also leaves everyone feeling like "ya I'm good for awhile" haha.

Wish I could make it out to Moab with you guys, Hayden always makes it sound like such a fun trip. Which obviously it is, my favorite group of dudes in my favorite place... can't beat it. Maybe one year!!! I'll be out there the entire following week with family and meet up with some others so I'll get my Moab fix.

It's nothing special really. It's an ARB snorkel for a first gen Tacoma #ss170hf. anything you'd like to know in particular?

Thanks! I have seen a few people run that intake portion instead of the forward facing intake. Was that a simple swap out from a standard intake? that came with the snorkel?
I saw your updated rig on Flemster's post. Still looking sharp.

I think your asking about the precleaner I've got on top on my snorkel (instead of the normal forward facing intake) in Alex's picture.
The precleaner is this part here:

It does not come with the snorkel but is easily fitted to the top after removing the normal intake head (which is just attached by a hose clamp)
It separates the dust/sand from the air before it goes into the snorkel and ultimately to my air filter. At the end of the day you just unscrew the collector dish and dump it out. It catches a whole lot of dirt after a day of red dirt like in Moab.
If you look up "snorkel precleaner" you'll find a bunch of information on how it works.
Hope that is what info you were looking for.

Thanks Kyle! I have seen that one someone else's rig before, but didn't know if you had to do some modding in order to make it work with the ARB snorkel. I see a ton of people use the cheaper 167 Hilux Snorkel. This is the one that needs to be modded in order for the plastic to not try to collapse inward as the suction pressure builds inside during acceleration. I mean, it seems easy enough to get around, but I do like the ARB version. I just see fewer of those snorkels running around on 3rd gens that the other version.
Did you have to fab much to make the actual ARB snorkel to connect to the stock airbox?

No problem.
It's not really all that hard to install the ARB snorkel. There is no real fabrication involved. Just drilling some holes and purchasing the Tacoma whip antenna and air inlet pipe.

Perfect! Thanks for that link. So it just looks like swapping the 4runner intake tube for Tacoma intake tube. That's the part I was wondering about. Looks pretty straightforward. I will keep my eyes open for any deals. I don't imagine that they run many or any for an item like this, but I like this design a bit better. I have already swapped out the mechanical antenna for the Tacoma whip so that is one less thing I suppose. LOL. Thanks again man.:cheers:
