I know its different application between card and truck world, but maybe some of the MR2 forums and such would have good tech threads on 5vz turbos? I'd be curious how much the 5vz can take

No need to do that. If you didn't want it bumped up, you should have not posted anything.
As soon as I get my roof on my shop done, I will be ordering one of these kits. Hopefully - Tokan Solutions will have a fuel ready kit (tested) for their Turbo. (injectors, Pump and piggy back).
I will be buying this kit not for 6 psi boost but I want to push that 5vz-fe with as much boost as it can possibly take safely. And I don't want to be the guinea pig for boost limits. I would want it tested and proven first.
So hopefully, Tokan Solutions will have a turn key kit ready.

Our 5VZ 87 Turbo truck is pushing 10psi. Currently setup with some 550cc injectors and a MAF/timing calibrator. Its a fully custom built setup so it probably won't directly compare to this kit.
No numbers yet but hoping to run it on the dyno within a few weeks.

This forum is completely disorganized, and nobody truly listens to what is correct. What I mean by disorganized is we dont have non-tech, and tech threads separated, so every time I jump on, I gotta filter thru the "crap" of nonsense trying to find build threads, and actually tech threads. I'm tired of seeing, "detailed it today" as a thread, shit, go and post that in the gallery where it belongs, dont make a new thread.
And nobody listened to what each other was writing in this thread. How hard is it to understand that 6psi on a turbo, WILL NOT make the same amount of power or have the same powerband as 6psi S/C. AND i cant get how no one understood that when it was brought up that you HAVE to tune a f/i vehicle, for reliability and power reasons.
This is the last post by me already.
Sure. And you're completely helping this forum stay organized by posting a rant about organization in a thread that's about turbos. This forum is completely disorganized, and nobody truly listens to what is correct.
...seriously? This is your issue? You can't just not click on the threads you don't care for? What I mean by disorganized is we dont have non-tech, and tech threads separated, so every time I jump on, I gotta filter thru the "crap" of nonsense trying to find build threads, and actually tech threads. Bye.This is the last post by me already.
Are you using the stock MAF sensor? And is it right before the Throttle Body?
Yes to both
Have any more pictures of your setup? Did you fab your own turbo manifold?
Yep it was all custom built in house. I'll try and grab a few more pictures of it here soon but the 1UZ 2wd pickup build has all the attention right now
After more consideration, I've decided I'm not going with these CXRacing turbo manifolds. I've been googling CXRacing, and I've read too many horror stories regarding their products. My 4Runner is my daily driver, and having cracking manifolds isn't something I want to deal with. I think I'll continue with copy catting Clownmeat and Yoterman's rearmount build.
The day you actually BUILD something, besides a brake swap, maybe thats when you should chime in your 2 cents.
Telling people that they need no tune whatsoever is gonna blow their shit up, or your shit if you decide to go for it.
One of the members on here with a rear mount setup is tuned with a product from AEM, although I cant recall the exact username, I can recall that there was something there to help get his air/fuel ratios in check, and timing.
FIN.
If clownmeat's truck were a manual, he would likely be experiencing low RPM ping. But since he's got a torque converter that wont happen. His name is Clownmeat, and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned his name and referenced his rear mount turbo build 100 times already in this thread. And unless I missed something in his build, he IS NOT using anything to modify his AFRs / timing. He's running the same amount of boost as the TRD supercharger, which DOES NOT REQUIRE a tune. I agree, a tune would be highly beneficial, but it's already been proven that it's not 100% required. Now if you go above and beyond the boost PSI that the TRD SC provides, I agree that you should look into tuning. But hey, that's no different than if you run a smaller pulley on the SC... you'll need tuning of some sort.
Now quit your b!tching and GTFO.

And just cause you can run it that way, does not mean it's the safest or most proper way to do it. I'm not calling CM a liar, but MANY people don't post what "actually happens" online because they are ashamed of their mistakes, myself included.
TRD blowers do require a tune for proper efficiency, power and LONGEVITY. Why else would TRD come out with a 7th injector bandaid a few years after the release of the blower?
The only reason 5vz's are staying together is because of the stout construction. If they were 95% of motors out there, they would have grenaded years ago.
P.S. It's not very nice telling people to GTFO, this ain't your house.
