Ebay Ad: Is this truck worth the money?

I am currently looking for a truck almost identical to this one, but I want it in silver/grey.

I stumbled across this one and the vehicle history is super sketchy. I was still thinking about bidding on it though. It's less than a day's drive from me and there doesn't appear to be any rust.

Do any of you think it's actually worth anything? It seems clean but the history is very concerning. The number of owners also seems like people might be anxious to ditch it.

When in doubt but still interested, be sure to leave emotion at home--it has no place when looking over a potential purchase. If you like it but you have some doubts, toss a low bid out there and see if it sticks--that way you're not out much if you win, and if you don't win, you can move on to the next fish in the sea without the nagging doubts. There are plenty of these trucks out there.
 
In case you were not aware you can buy the decals so I would try to get the colour of the truck right as that one invokes the most memory for you. (you should post your old dad's truck here)

Thanks, that's good advice. I was not aware they made the decals still.

This is my dad and his old 4Runner. I am trying to locate one nearly identical to this. If everyone could keep an eye out for one like this or at least one in the same color, I would greatly appreciate it!

It's had Junk and Salvage titles since it was 2 years old.
It's FUBAR but it's appearance keeps suckering people into buying it, like you're considering.
Run away as fast as you can.

The runner is clean i will give you that i would be worried about the trans i am not a fan of the auto trans but if this is what you are looking for then it would not hurt to take a drive out to see it just make a day of it the city is located 45min from the beach if you like it then just keep in mind once you get it home with some thing like this plan on finding little nickle and dime thinfgs that were never found that will need to be done these older runners are making a come back more and more people are looking for them so many of them have been trashed beond saving
 
I found a Turbo Sr5 that I really like, very clean. Are turbos worth it? Or do they come with more problems? The color is still technically wrong, but the interior and the top are the correct colors.
 
Those wheels are around. Watch your Craigslist or the classifieds here and Yotatech, they come up for sale fairly frequently.

I think you should focus more on finding a truck that's clean and in good repair, and don't get hung up on the color. If you drive it for a while and it just doesn't feel right, there's always paint shops.

It would be hard (but not impossible) to find a 26 yr old turbo in good shape, most owners did not follow the required cool down after driving, which severely shortened it's life.

Most 22RET owners go with aftermarket replacements, since there is no Toyota parts or replacements.

Thanks. I see a lot of turbos for sale so I just figured I'd ask about them.
What's the more popular engine types for the '88 and '89 model years?

Well you only have two options from the factory. The 22re 4banger, or the 3.0 v6. By popular, do you mean sought after or how many were produced of each?

I guess I mean which one is more sought after nowadays? Which one is more reliable and easier to maintain?
