Stupid question: do all SR5 have this system? Mine did not come with a fob but has a security indicator that doesn't work

Looks like it was possibly a dealer option based on the wiring behind the panel

I have a few things I eventually plan to buy from ebay, so it's good to read positive experiences! What I have ordered from ebay, and had good exp with, are led panels for the dome and trunk lights(very bright), license plate leds, and a leather center console cover for my gf's accord coupe; a replacement I intend to do for mine as well after loaning my car to a friend for the day resulted in a ripped console cover.

A few things I intended to buy from ebay ended up being found at a salvage yard, and a few others on amazon, where I have some credit. Ebay may not be the monopoly it was but it is certainly useful still in conjunction with other purveyors. No-name brands don't scare me off totally, but I'm not always convinced by dirt cheap prices either. Just have to do some research!

I just got my SR5's original window sticker out. It appears that unless your SR5 came with the "XJ2" option, it would not have the remote security system. However it would seem entirely likely that it is plug and play if you can find the correct remote security system.

It's a dealer installed option. I think (but a not 100%) that 99's and up had a factory option that can roll the back window down too. They have a totally different system.

Yes, it's easy to add. My friend just pulled one out of a parts 4Runner and transplanted it into his that originally didn't have it.

I kind of am surprised also since Ive seen so many failures. But then I thought about it. On our dsm's we pushed them from 25-50psi. Im guessing your running a lot less than that.

Dont recall seeing it, but the eBay Hilux 167 snorkels are good. Also available on Amazon.

Ive only bought a few things ebay made for the 4runner.



Cree cheap 4 banger LED lights. Work great, been on for years, no leaks.



Iggee Custom synthetic leather seat covers. BAD BAD BAD. Two years they are already trashed just from getting in and out.



Not for the 4runner I have had much success with parts like BOV, Wastegates, intercoolers, piping, exhaust manifolds, exhausts, ect....

Any specific buyer/brand of LEDs you've bought? Been looking to grab a few and there's a lot of options, don't wanna grab something that's junk. Sounds like you've had good luck.

What is all involved? Do you know exactly what you need to do and is it really just plug and play? my 97 SR5 has no security light or key fobs but I wouldn't mind having it. The yard by me has quite a few 3g's in there too.

There's literally only 2 or 3 different types of each size, just a thousand people all selling the exact same thing. Find the cheapest one and you're good.

There's a guy on E-Bay who rebuilds Denso starters. I bought the hi torque one.
I also have 4 wheel spacers for the price of 2 Spidertrax. And a rear chrome center piece bumper. All good but I try to stay away from cheap junk.
