Eclipse IPC-106 with AVN5435

Yes the IPC-106 will work with the AVN5435. Here's a copy of some email exchanges with Eclipse tech support:

You're welcome. Text display is available in the Sirius mode, but not in the CD Changer mode. Once your iPod is connected to the head unit via the iPC-106, you no longer have control of the iPod through the iPod itself. Yes, it does charge the iPod.

Thank-you for you response. I just want to be clear before I make the purchase for the IPC-106 for my AVN5435.

If I do not have Sirius, then with the use of the IPC-106, I'd be able to get ID Tag text info onto the screen on my AVN5435. Along with that, I also have control of the ipod through the GUI and will be able to charge the ipod at the same time.

Any idea whether or not album art would be displayed? How about video from a 5G ipod? I'm guessing probably not, but just wanted to ask.

The AVN5435 can use the IPC-106 for iPod integration. If you do not have Sirius you will be able to get Text. If you do have Sirius then you are right it would be used as if if were a CD Changer and as such no Text.

I own a AVN5435 in my Toyota 4Runner. I'm looking for some ipod integration into my truck.

How compatible is the IPC-106 to the AVN5435? According to the website, it is not very compatible (ie no text on the screen). Are there any plans for a ipod controller compatible with the AVN5435?

I never bought one because I heard the integration to a AVN5435 is not very strong. If I had an AVN6600 like you then I'd definitely get the ipod adapter. shouldn't be too difficult to find a spot though.

I just bought the Eclipse IPC-106 Ipod adapter for my AVN5435. I cannot seem to get the thing to work. I tried different settings for SW1 and SW2, but still couldn't get it to work.

I believe the correct setting is supposed to be A-B for Sirious and A-A for CD-changer. I've also tried the other two possible combinations.

Has anybody experienced the same problem with this adapter?

Crutchfield is sending another one to see if its the adapter or the head unit.

I used to have the eclipse ipc-106 adapter for my avn5435 but I returned it because it was clunky and hard to use. To get it to work, I used the amended instructions (separate piece of paper) that came with the unit because the original manual had some typos. I forget the dipswitch settings, but they did work.

As for the functionality of the unit, it was pretty bad. The steering wheel controls wouldn't switch tracks in sirius mode and switching playlists was a pain (it doesn't display the name of the playlist). This was all before I updated the system using the latest NAV update disc, so maybe it's been improved a little. However, the sound quality was very good (all digital connection). I would buy it and try it again if I knew that the controls were improved after the software update.

I shot out an email to eclipse tech support asking whether or not the v1.4 dvd disc improves ipc-106 ipod adapter interface issues, but never received anything in return.

So I'm still very curious as to how bad the IPC-106 really works with the AVN5435. So now I know it cannot recognize playlist names (i was hoping that it would). I've also read on some reviews that it is not very responsive, in fact I've heard of delays of 30 seconds or more for it to start up. Is this the case?

Good news is that it sounds good. I have issues with using the ipod through the AUX input. Too much noise in my opinion.

Will post updates as I learn more about how well the v1.4 firmware works with the IPC-106 ipod adapter.

I actually thought it was pretty responsive when I used it. I mean, it wasn't as fast as using the interface on the ipod itself, but it didn't seem slow at all. I was using it with my 5G ipod.

IPC-106 finally installed

OK. I finally have it installed. Now I truly understand some of the complaints of this setup with the IPC-106 and AVN5435 in Sirius mode. Here's a summary:

Pros:
Charges Ipod.
Displays ID tag info of current song.
Pretty responsive.
Good Sound Quality.

Cons:
Cannot browse playlist.
Need to setup proper playlist first.
No steering wheel controls.

I was definitely one generation behind with this setup. I'm sure the AVN6600 works exactly the way I want it to work. Is it worth the $600 price difference between the AVN5435 and the AVN6000 for the additional DVD capability, improved Ipod functionality, and slightly updated navigation mpa? Probably not. Am I going to uninstall and send it back? Probably not.

I think I just need to put some time into my playlist and I should be fairly happy with this setup.

Go ahead and dicoonect the power and Ipod from the IPC-106, change the switches to A and B so you can use it under Sirius mode. Re-connect the power only, turn on the AVN5435 then plug in the ipod at the end.
Sirius 1 = Playlist
Sirius 2 = Artist
Sirius 3 = Album
Sirius 4 = Song
