Eco On / Eco Off

I have one of those chip recorders plugged into my company vehicle. That will change your bad driving habits to a certain extent. It all gets downloaded to a data base and analyzed. If you make it beep to many times by going over a certain speed limit,braking to hard,or taking off from the line. The company makes you take a driver safety coarse. If you are still in the red zone of bad driving habits, they will suspend you with no pay. If I can't work. I can't earn any money for more mods for my rig. But on the other hand when I get in my 4r. I like to hear the roar of my intake, the sound of the muffler when I step on the skinny peddle. I don't pay attention to the green light then. Yaaaahhhhhh back to reality. Then the next day repeats itself.

Seriously, if you want to modify driver behaviour....hook up the ECO idiot light to the seatbelt chime...then, you'll get results!!! :bash:

Agreed it's too bright - so I also disable it and use the other display that shows the ECO bar-meter instead.

My Pops has a 2009 Corolla, and it has the instantaneous and Average MPG indicators - I do wish ours had the dual MPG read-outs as well.

Regardless , as 1E hinted at, the ECO indicator and MPG indicator changed my driving habits for the better IMNSHO. I NEVER thought about MPG in my '99 Tacoma as it didn't have any sort of MPG reporting - and I always drove it with a heavy foot...

This is one of the things Toyota changed from the 4th Gen, dual indicators for MPG as well as headlights, led tail lights, auto rear door closure. That does not mean I am not happy with my 5th Gen. Just some things that really do not make any sense to have changed on a new and improved generation.

I tend to try and keep my acceleration below 2k RPM anyway, so it's mostly useless. It'd be nice if it was more of those "eco-drive" engines that shifted to 4 cylinders for more efficiency, but it's not, so it's not doing anything.

I hate this thing... If I were worried about eco and MPG, I'd bought a Prius.

Don't know the page #, but it is in the owners manual. I recall pushing the disp button on steering wheel and toggling it off there.

As outlined in the thread above, the manual contains the directions for turning off the green light. The dealer (or Carista app) is required to get rid of the ECO bar display.
