Money can't be that tight. I just had 4 mechanics say they wouldn't or didn't want to press in a bushing for me. Not that they can't, they didn't want to. One guy said he'd do it for $100. Told him I was going to the bank, I'd be right back. Hope he didn't think I was serious…..

It's hard sometimes finding a mechanic that'll do that kind of stuff. There's no money in it, and it takes their techs away from work that does make money. On top of that, there's the liability issue if something goes wrong later in the install and you try and blame them for it. Overall, it's easier for them to just say no.

Try a machine shop. In my experience, machine shops are much more willing to take care of the small odd jobs that a driveway mechanic sometimes doesn't have the tool for.

I could appreciate that if these guys were actually doing something constructive, like working on a car, but they weren't. $20 cash is $20 cash. 5 minutes is 5 minutes. That's $240 an hour. We're talking corner gas station guys. Not "shop" type techs.

Next time my wife takes her car in for an oil change and this dude offers to change her Power Steering fluid for $20 again I'm gonna tell him he can choke on a fat baby's dick.

And I did find a guy. Took his "burp" gun and a propane torch. 10 minutes and he refused to take any money. I talked him into it tho. He's my new best friend.

Hell I just hah a similar deal happen. Had to pay the manager of True Value in Marsing Idaho $20 cash to receive my motor (he had to take it off the FedX semi & set it on a cart for me.). He agreed to do the reverse when I had the core out & ready to ship back for another $20 so I payed him.... I got it out ready to ship & made all arrangements. When I went down & told him the time & day he acted like dushe & like I was inconveniencing him. I put the pallet on the cart & wheeled it to the exact agreed spot @ the agreed time.But when the fedX driver showed up he said the shipment wasnt ready & sent the driver away.

When I asked what happened he said he had no idea the motor was there or how to contact me. Thats complete BS! Left him my # & address all 3 times we talked. + I live 3 buildings out there freight door (approx 60 to 70 yards away) & he knew it! He drove his fork lift up the ally to my place just to see where I lived on the day my motor showed up so he would know.


I'm so pissed off, that I won't shop there again! & I have told everyone l know/meet about it. & Will continue to do so till it hopefully hurts there bussniss!
That's a shitty way to treat someone in a tiny town where everyone knows everyone else's busniss!

I did finally get it shipped back, thanks to the guys @ Napa auto parts just 1 block down from them.

seems like a good way to get filthy oil installed, rather than new. good luck with that.

I always check the oil after she brings her car home. Just to make sure they put the oil cap back on. Same place added 4 qts too much trans. fluid to my kids Runner a few years back...

Why the hell would you take your vehicle(s) back to that shop if you can't even trust them to put the oil cap back on, let alone 4 overfilling a trans by 4 qts? For all you know they could be putting the wrong oil in it on purpose, especially if you act like a dick when you drop your car off. The auto industry can be a lot like the food industry sometimes...just sayin

Who said I acted like a dick? I've never been a dick to these guys. Been going there for 30 plus years. Things happen, I took the Runner back, they drained and filled it back up. No harm no foul. If it hand't puked everywhere I wouldn't have seen it.

I made the comment about the oil cap in reference to dirty oil being put into my engine. I don't think anyone is that ****ed up. But I double check what people do because sometimes people don't do things right.

And asking a shop I've going to 30 plus years for a quick favor and being told I don't feel like it is ****ed up in my opinion.

My apologies if I ruffled any "techs" panties. I guess I didn't realize people were above making a few bucks on the side. Unless they're going to exchange PS fluid for my helpless wife. They're a dime a dozen anyways….. That's why I work on my own vehicles.

maybe you haven't been a dick. but if you tell one of the mechanics to "choke on a fat baby's dick", you probably don't want to take any of your vehicles back to that shop anytime soon. or, you could, and find out whether any of them are "that ****ed up". your choice, i guess. certainly isn't going to affect me.

If it came down to me telling him that, I would never go back there. No doubt. But not bcos I'm scared they're going to mess with my car. That's illegal.

I don't always take my vehicles to mechanics, but when I do I expect them to do the work I would do the their car. This place has done that. It pissed me off. Not even a lame excuse, just nah, don't feel like it……. Next time this guy tries to make a quick buck off of my wife while she's getting gas I'm going to chew his ass out.
