I bought some of these alloys with black oxide coating and put them on my tire black carrier to match. They rusted within a month from humidity just sitting in my garage. I took them off and replaced with stainless. Your best bet is painting or powder coating the stainless hardware.

Using the mounts that come with the Maxtrax, and two existing holes on the cross bars, I had to drill 2 holes and makes two small extension plates.
At the moment I don't have a picture without the maxtrax on, so this picture may explain.
The tallest part are the mounts themselves, which are around 6".

Just to share with you, the way I have this rack set up, I have no wind noise, no vibration
with my Sunroof opened or closed at any mph and my wife and I can actually have a normal conversation.

Got mine installed today. Was missing the same bolts as most everyone else. I will say, the bolt packaging was top notch though.
The basket panel was pretty banged up, but nothing some channel-locks and flat black spray paint couldn't fix.
Minimal swearing and wrench throwing with this install. Overall pretty happy at the price point.
The only real complaint is that the roofline cut on the drivers side isn't smooth, and is off a bit. Looks jagged in a couple spots and the took too much material out of the middle area, so it doesn't sit as flush as the passenger side.
I'm sure I'll forget about it in a few weeks.
Again, very happy overall, especially considering the price point.

The Ecotechne definitely looks the cleanest and possibly could be the quietest aftermarket rack available. However, it seems you would have to DIY all your mounts to be able to install most accessories. Also, from the pictures it doesn't seem capable of handling 900+lbs! I believe the K9 has the strongest rating at about 1000+lbs and they have a bunch of accessory mounts available - of course the cost is big $$$$! The Prinsu rack seems to be a good option with a similar look. I believe it's only about $100ish more. From others posts, it has an option for a light cutout and it's real easy to mount accessories due to its movable bars. I believe recommended static weight to about 700lbs, I would assume 300-400lbs moving.

What is the point of your post other than to tell us how shitty our racks are compared to others?
I have shopped around before going with ecotechne rack. i love the design and the price!
Prinsu requires drilling, and has a poor contour design with the 4runner. Just my opinion, The ezi-awn is even worse, maybe stronger but definetly ugly.
