I am interested in the hood rack, however, I don't recall ever seeing a definitive answer on whether it would fit over a scooped hood. 2016 Trail.

First of all, I don't know why everyone praises Rorck? (Other than his amazing build)

I tried to get around all the known issues:

1. Missing / NOT RUST PROOF Hardware.
-Requested hardware list so I can get my own before ordering rack. Failed to provide. (I know its already on this long ass thread.. but supposedly some hardware iterations occurred between different versions of this rack)

2. Bare metal option = $20 savings? Really?

3. Material used is Steel. Nothing against steel but my vehicle will mostly be outside, I doubt this would last. I'd love to see this in an aluminum option and I'd be all over it or another material that can resist the elements (long term).

3. Very unorganized group buy.. I can't even tell what changed between the first and current version... What improvements have been made? It should only take like 10 minutes to update his original post each time an improvement has been made to draw more people in.

I was set on the look and weight capacity of the Ecotechne rack, but too many holes here. I wasted my life reading every single post on this thread. Save yourself the trouble. Until things change, I don't see how Ecotechne will continue to do business.

Rorck isn't affiliated with Ecotechne at all, as far as I can tell. He's just the one stepping up to make them cheaper as a group buy. I guess you can try calling them down there to buy direct, and ask them to make it out of aluminum, swap the hardware for stainless, tell them their powdercoat is shitty and to give you $200 off, ship it directly to you for cheap, etc.

Have you checked out Prinsu? They might be what you're looking for.

ooh i did not know this. i recall a thread about some Venezuelan company making knock-offs, but i must be confusing ecotechne with the outfit in colorado (forget its name) making stuff too.
