So I got word back from a user that got the hood rack, not for maxtraxx, but rather a easy to grab from rack(diamond plate mesh and what not). Anyhow, He said the rack itself would fit because supposedly the mounting point can move up or down the hood, BUT if you want to mount maxtraxx brackets, you may or may not get interference. Tough call as it's not a necessity for me, but a nice mod.

I'd be using it for maxtraxx I love how it looks. I don't need a roof rack and the hood rack looks mean and aggressive with them mounted on there. If you end up buying it post up pics. Did he show you how it mounts up? I'm curious if I could put a few spacers to raise it up.

I hear you on that! Amazon has ruined many lives LOL. I was just hoping for a little more communication especially when the shipping time has far exceeded what we were told initially. Just some sort of acknowledgment or update would be nice.

What kind of spacers are you thinkin? I will pm him again and see if it's mounted, or if I can get a picture of the mounting points.

I haven't received any info on the ladder from the shipper yet. I'll post here as soon as I hear something too. I'll also post the weight of the ladder for the rear hatch struts as needed, as I hear it's easier to install the struts before the ladder install. I'm curious on the ladder shipping weight. I think ECOTECHNE is rapidly expanding and trying to improve on and developing new products. That, and clearing customs probably equals a bit longer waiting time for us to receive our products from them.

Howdy All,

We (@SEAFOAM and I) received our rack + additional tray from the 8th batch. All hardware accounted for and no damage. Install wasn't too bad with two of us working on it. The only challenging section was installing the front piece between the two rails. Its a tight fit between the body but take your time and have some microfiber towels on hand to lay on the roof to prevent scratches to the paint in case you drop a bolt or wrench.

**I wanted to point out to please make sure and take care when removing the factory rack system. Learn from my mistake** I accidentally put two small dents in the body just below the points where you remove the black plastic covers closest to the rear :hiding:. There is a note in the installation instructions mentioning this as well but even reading that I didn't realize what I did until it was too late. The metal on the body there is pretty thin. THANKFULLY I have a friend who owns a PDR company who took care of pulling the dents out but I felt terrible having done this.

Overall we are very happy with the rack. As others in the 8th batch have mentioned, the passenger side rail up front doesn't sit flush near the front as well as the driver's side. There is a gap but it is what it is and we can live with it. Wind noise was pretty bad with a tray mounted up at the front so we removed it for the time being. I've been reading what others have done to deflect the wind up front and saw [MENTION=156286]Leon0428[/MENTION] 's idea. I think we'll do something similar but with black plastic.

Below are pictures without and with the RTT installed. This is a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized Sky model. We did flip the rails in order for it be mounted securely, but with some different bolts and aluminum pieces that I can cut to fit in the rack's rails, its possible to mount the RTT so its flush with the rack with this model. We also installed the rails to the bottom of the RTT before hoisting it up to the rack.

The rack looks great - thanks for the post. Regarding removing the factory rack covers there is a simple way to do this. Using a plastic bicycle tire remover, slide the tire remover between the rubber gasket and the plastic cover. It's best to insert this under the leading edge of the front and trailing edge of the rear. Then simply pull the tire remover along the side while remaining between the gasket and cover. It pops right off.

I'm in the 9th batch, number 10. Haven't heard a thing. Bought the cross bars for the standard rack from Toyota today, $140, so I'm ready for what seems to be the inevitable non-delivery by the time I needed it for a trip to CO.
