Yes, there's a bulb back there that must have just burnt out.

It's easy to change. I'm just hoping you know how so I don't have to explain it... I hate typing that much

Think I can get it. Just didn't want to start ripping into it and find no bulb...Off tomorrow so I'll change it then......Thanks For the info...much appreciated...

The light only comes on when the button is engaged, just not when your lights are on.

i think the OP is talking about the light in the switch, not the one in the dash cluster. and as far as replacing the light, dont buy one from toyota, they want like $12 for it, take the bulb into honda, they only want like $1.89 or.98 i forget which,

I got mine for a buck or two at Toyota when I changed mine. I do get a discount though...

Oh no kidding, never noticed, mine doesn't light up either.

The rear window switch is lit???:wtf:
It must have burnt out before I bought it. I've had this truck for 9 years and never knew! Oh well, one one more thing to add to the repair list I guess.

The window switch has a longer neo wedge style bulb, but I had another one of the ECT wedge style shorter bulbs. It works the same and still lights up fine, as shown in the photo.

it depends on the year of your truck, cause on my 97 the ect switch and the rear window light are down and the center console by the ebrake, and have the same style bulb. now on the 99 and newer trucks they might be different

Guess I was just basing this on OP's truck, which is a 99 SR5


But yeah, Idk about the earlier models.

Speaking of ECT, how much difference in gas milage does it make with it on?

"edit" I just did a search on the ECT on here and it appears that it depends on your driving style and probably mostly "where" you are located as to whether or not you get slightly less gas milage with it on.
In fact it appears that in general about 60-70% of people are getting better gas milage with it on which is the opposite of what the manual states.
I am in a rather hilly area, not mountains but lots of up & down around town so I might do a test on my next tank to see if I might be one of those 60% that gets better milage.

Happen to have the part number? Went by toyota today but they where unable to find correct part number....
