ECT Not Working

Howdy,

I searched through threads but most seemed to indicate the the dash light was probably out.

In my case the light works when the button is depressed but it will not stay depressed. I've tried it with engine on and off, in and out of gear and it just won't stay depressed.

I guess it really doesn't matter too much…I mean it shouldn't be an indicator of anything out aside from itself right?

Any clues?

Thanks,

UteP

If your careful. You can remove the button from the console and possibly remove the button part and clean the dirt, lint, or soda residue out of it.

Thanks all,

Are you suggesting I can pull the button out from the front or by removing the console and fooling with it from the back?

If I have to remove the console I'll wait till I install a CB in a couple weeks.

Thanks,

I don't see why you couldn't remove the switch assembly from the console while leaving the console in place.

It may not matter!

There a several threads about how nobody notices any change when the PWR ECT button is engaged. I can't notice any change whatsoever, so it may not be worth trying to fix the button.

Thanks,

I won't give it much effort but it's one of those resale value deals just in case I decide to upgrade to a different T4R......if it's simple to do...otherwise I agree not worth much effort.
