ECU questions

I have a 1986 4runner...I have acquired an 85 celica for engine parts and anything else that is interchangeable between the vehicles...my question is the interchangability of the ecu...It seems that the only difference would be the program within the ecu itself as the engines are the same...can these ECU's have the program chip changed like a lot of the later models?

I don't think the 2 ECU's would be interchangeable. One would be programmed for a sports car and the other a truck, entirely different applications, gearing, power range, etc.

The chip isn't replaceable, at least on my 83 or 84.
