ecu reset

so just scheduled the T4R for its 60,000 mile service. its gonna be pricey but thats not what im having a problem with. i asked them to also reset the ECU because i put the borla exhaust on. they quoted me $119 for the reset? is that too high? i don't wanted to get even more ripped off from the stealership.

all u had to do was disconnect the - battery cable, then reconnect it after about 5 min.

just so u know, anytime the battery is disconnected it resets the computer, thats one reason why an emissions test cant be done till 24 hrs. later. u put a new cai in, disconnect/reconnect, its starts the learning process. u will then have to more than likely redo things like your radio stations, seat settings , etc. the stealership will charge by the hour even whether something takes just 15 min.

you also could just drive it around for a week or so, it will eventually get use to the new stuff .

Bringing this back, I'm impatiently waiting for my ScanGauge to give me the "ready" status after resetting my ECU. I did all the steps to speed up the process but I'm still at "not ready" and wonder why. Anyone able to tell me anything other than "give it time?"

I tried this somewhat generic description:

A Typical OBD-II drive cycle consists of:

1. Cold start(coolant below 122 degrees F.
2. Five to eight-minute warm up and idle.
3. First acceleration to 55mph at half throttle with the air conditioning turned off.
4. First steady cruise at 55mph for three minutes.
5. First deceleration to 20mph.
6. Second accel, this time at 3/4 throttle.
7. Second steady cruise at 60mph for five minutes.
8. Second deceleration(without applying the clutch or brake pedal).
