Effectiveness of rear spoiler

I am considering installing a Toyota genuine rear spoiler on my 2004 4Runner SR5. I get a lot of dust and dirt and a few rock chips on the tailgate and window and wonder if the spoiler assists with the reduction of dust, etc.

It is supposed to but then I've never had mine off so I wouldn't have anything to compare it to. Toyota redesigned the spoiler in '05 it looks like to boost whatever it was doing so there must be at least a little engineering going into fitting these on the truck.

Even on 3rd gens the basic flat one fills a void that looks so empty on the spoilerless.

It may help with dust and some dirt issues, but I kinda doubt it will do much for rock chips.

I had to add one - got it from spoilerdepot.com - came painted. I could tell a big diff in the amount of crap the built up on the back window. Go for it - they look cool.

Also gives me something to grab onto when I step up on the back bumper to wash the roof.
