To each his own.. i have a friend that runs an exhaust shop.. and if it didn't throw a CEL i'd have done it yesterday to get rid of the stink

You would need a tune to keep your vehicles mpg from dropping. If the smell is worth that kind of money, or getting less mpg than cool. I would suggest having the exhaust shop fit a tail pipe that turns to the side similar to the 3rd gen, I think others have had this done and it supposedly helps.

Yea, redirecting the tailpipe is what i'm most likely going to do..

I think it looks better too. My SR5 has the slot in the back bumper for the exhaust tip, but it's an easy fix on the TE...

Was starting to get fairly concerned until I found this thread. I always ride with my rear window down in my 14 Trail and get that exhaust smell every time I have to accelerate, especially on the on ramps to the interstate. Was trying to figure out if it was just a coincidence of trucks in front of me (its Houston-99% of the vehicles in front of me are going to be trucks). But the more I payed attention to it, the more I realized it was coming from my truck.

If it bothers you, you could always get the exhaust tip bent 90 degrees behind the rear tire. Problem solved.

Its honestly not that big of a deal to me. I just wanted to make sure that the smell wasn't a potential problem.
