Elbow mod?

In reading about Deckplate and ISR mods I saw occasional references to an "elbow mod" but I didn't see it mentioned in the 3rd gen buyer's guide on this website and have not seen a write up of what it is or how to do it. Is there an "elbow mod" for 3rd gen 4runner v6s? If so, what does it accomplish and how is it done?

Similar results w/out an SC?

Do we think the gains from removing the elbow on the air intake (in right fender) would be similar with an non-SC engine? Or is the SC just taking advantage of the extra air it needs? Only thing odd to me is the HP #s on the 'before' if this is an SC engine - wouldn't those #s be kinda low?

So with the elbow mod, you just take it off? Nothing is put in its place? Is there any reason to remove the elbow AND do the deckplate mod? Or is that redundant?

Any reason to prefer one to the other? I am not a serious off roader so I won't be driving through deep water, etc. Just looking to gain any little performanec and economy edge I can.

not sure but this is what I noticed when I removed my right hand corner light to replace w/LEDs (real NICE bluish & bright btw!), when I looked back from that point to the passenger area you can see the elbow make its sharp turn But then it goes into a rather narrow tube - that tube would seem restrictive to me - about a foot long.

it is the narrowest point of all the induction system so expanding or eliminating it might help with air flow and May account for the extra power??

Now the next narrowest point would be the small portion of tubing going out the box to the right towards said cut off elbow, so that is where cutting the front for extra air helps, then the next narrowest is much further up the intake.
