Electric brake booster

I think I lost my electric brake booster today. The following lights came on, followed by a buzzer. VSC Trac, VSC off, ABS, brakes

I pulled the following codes: ABS 41, 51, 52, 56 and VCS 43

Those codes pointed me to the booster motor, so I followed the procedure, and connected battery voltage to BM1 and EM1 and there was sound.

I also checked the pressure sensor and it was in spec. Does this point to a bad motor? Is there some place that I can purchase just the motor, instead of the entire brake unit?

I pulled the DC motor out and took it apart. It looks to me as if the brushes are worn down to the end of their useful life. I cleaned the motor out, lubed it and was able to get it to work for another 5 minutes before it stopped again. Tap on the side of the motor and it'll work for a few more minutes before stopping again.

Can I buy just a replacement motor somewhere, or am I stuck buying the entire brake assembly?

Its All 1 piece and the whole Unit is replaced...had to do mine and it's $$$$$$:wof:

Toyota only sells the whole Hydroboost brake unit as 1 piece, and it's $$$$$.

Since you've already torn the unit down to the DC motor and identified that as the problem, you're probably more than capable of soldering a replacement motor in there. I saw a post either here or toyota120.com from some years ago calling out the identification of the motor and a link to purchase it (on Amazon of all places), but my 2 minutes of searching now yielded nothing.

Does the motor have a model number printed on the can anywhere, or any identification markings? That might help in finding a suitable replacement.

The part number has worn off on mine. I'm going to take it by a reman shop tomorrow and see if they can do any thing with it.

No luck finding a reference to an amazon part. I'll see if the reman shop can do anything with it tomorrow. I really hope they can, otherwise the boat is going to have to stay home this weekend and that won't end well for the Toyota.

There was someone here who sent out that part and had it rebuilt. I'm trying to find the link. I think it was company in TN or around that area that specialized in rebuilding that part of electric motors -- yeah, I know, not very helpful. I thought I had bookmarked that page, but I can't find the bookmark.

This is the company I came across. They will rebuild/custom build a commutator:

AKARD COMMUTATOR OF TENNESSEE (ACT)

I think that is what you need. I haven't done business with them.
