Electrical help on a 96

I have had this runner for about three months now. Earlier this week I replaced the rear bumper with a tube bumper. Witch left the cabin vent a bit more exposed than before. I left today for a trip to Utah and about half way across Colorado I hit some storm. After I drove in the storm awhile the tail light/ dash light fuse blew. I replaced it and a few miles later it went again I had to end up putting a larger fuse in it to get where I was going as it was 3am.. A few hundred miles after that the door adjar light was coming on for the rear hatch and then the wiper fuse blew twice same story... Any ideas on what to check first. Is there anything behind the cabin vent that could be getting wet? It just started this tonight and I need to get it fixed ASAP so any help is appreciated

I wish I could help, my door ajar light is on from the rear hatch as well, due to a faulty latch. Its still opens and closes fine, its just loose enough to keep that light on 24/7. I want to find a way to bypass this And make the light go off. Mine is also a 96.

At any rate I hope you find a solution to your problem. It seems unrealistic to me that changing the bumper could expose enough to cause this electrical problem. But electrical problems follow me and when I finally do get them corrected, its always a solution I never would have expected. Good luck

There is some exposed wiring in the rear quarter panel. Could be wet wire connections. When I had my rear bumper off to get my truck painted that vent flapped around like crazy so very possible you could have water driven inside if driving in rain with it exposed.
