Electrical Problem

On a 2007 4WD 4Runner, I´m having an electrical problem. It occurs randomly, sometimes while driving the engine shuts off (no service engine light on the panel). I shift it to neutral and try to start, sometimes it works. Sometimes I have to stop and wait hours before it starts. There is battery power to all circuits except engine and all relays are OK. Sometimes it occurs before starting the engine. I have been to the dealer and the computer shows no error code. Any clues???

Once the 4runner shuts down, does it attempt to crank at all, or is it completely dead?
The latter may be a faulty ignition key (the microchip in your key), where your killswitch may engage randomly, thinking the wrong key is in sporadically.
However, if it tries to crank, then you may be looking at a bigger problem. For starters, you may want to check and see how your fuel pump is doing, and have the pressure checked when its actually running. Its extremely rare, but the fuel pump could just be bad. I know my level gauge is already shot (04 SR5), so anything is possible. Otherwise, you have a sporadic short.

Also, just a random thought, but if you get it running at your house (or safe spot where you have help and resources/tools), shake the hell out of it. Jack it up on one side, then the other, rock it, and do anything you can to trigger any abnormal road conditions. Then see what happens with the engine.
