electrical question

hey guys.

i wanted to run 4 aux lights off the roof. each light has a 100w bulb so i guess that would be 400w of total draw?


wondering if the stock alt/batt will handle this or if i will have to upgrade anything?

Use the formula P=IV, where P=power, in watts, I=current, in amps, and V=voltage.

So for your case:

400W=I(12V)

Solve for I:

(Math is FUN, right!?!?)

400W/12V=33.3A

Good to go! Use a relay rated for the current, and I'd use a heavier wire like a #10.

im using the IPF 968 CSG lights. they have 20amp relays per 2 lights.
