electrical tape on exhaust pipe mod? problems?

does anybody know if wrapping black electrical tape around my exhaust piping would cause any problems? i'm not sure how hot they get and if it could catch it on fire or anything like that? i hate the way you see the pipe running from the tip to the muffler on the left side of my truck and was thinking if i wrapped that part in the electrical tape maybe it would help it blend in better atleast until i get a towing package put on.

if this is a really stupid idea then please let me know. here is a picture so you can see what i'm talking about. maybe its just me being anal about it and noticing everything since its my truck.

electrical tape will prolly melt to it and not only smoke like a$$ but also stink like it, just go get you some black high heat paint and have at it, thats what I would do any way

Yes, wrapping tape around the exhaust is a stupid idea.
I understand the issue you see and thats fine, but personally I wouldn't think bad of your truck if I saw on the road. Do what beallen says and just paint it with some black engine enamel, that stuff is designed to cope with high heat.

Back on topic... High heat paint would be the way to go. Make sure to prime it correctly.

Wrapping it wold look worse than the stock pipe.

Just use some BBQ grille paint in flat black. That paint doesn't need primer and will hold up well to heat.

your right it is ducks unlimited sticker, but i took it off the back and no longer have their license plate. now i'm rockin the stickers above my limited trim.

but back on topic: so basically the painting part sounds kind of like a pain so should i just leave it as is? its not that noticeable, just depends on what angle your looking at it.

Painting it would take you no time at all and would be very easy to do.

Its Rustoleum BBQ high temp grill paint.
It will be in a spray can.
I would wait until the exhaust is cold. Wipe down the exhaust area to be painted with acetone. Tape off your tips with blue painters tape. Then put cardboard or aluminium foil on or over any area that you dont want sprayed. You can use the cardboard as a shield as you paint areas.

I would just do the visable areas and it should last for years. It might smoke the first time it gets really hot but not much and not for long. This is used for cooking so it has to be pretty safe.

Lets see some pics when your done. I kind of like my stainless pipe showing, but maybe that is just me.

Should have just probably got longer tips to start with. I made sure that you couldn't see anything but my tip when I had it put on.

But since you can't do that now...I'm looking forward to pictures.

neh, i think any tips longer then what i already have on there would come off looking ridiculous
