I keep 3 days worth of mountain house freeze dried food and 2 gallons of water in the runner. I put some thought into those vs. actual MRE's, but after some research on them I decided on the freeze dried stuff. MRE's shelf life is cut short in high temps from what I remember where the mountain house isn't as effected (could be wrong though). Mountain house has a 10 year guarantee if stored properly, but say they can stay good longer if unopened, may just be slightly off on taste. Another bonus for the mountain house meals was their packages were smaller and could carry more of it easier.
Something from one of the mountain house reps was to let it re hydrate a little long then the directions said. To give it an additional 5 minutes or so.

also, i would really suggest picking up some pziefer gelfoam for your med kit, it takes care of things staples,stitches and the rest can't , much better than quick clot and doesn't need alot of care after placement.....bad thing is though it's $$$ , you don't really need much and if used properly 1 package should last you. it basically melts into your wound plugging the hole and then your body basically absorbs it as it heals, i had a wide gouge "partial amputation" were the doctors words , where stitches wouldn't work and had been bleeding for about a week, the cut a chunk on of this stuff out and stuck it in the wound and that was the last i had to worry about it until it just fell off a few weeks later....

also suggest picking up a MAK-1 "type" knife to carry in the truck bag

there are others but i picked this one as i liked the design the best, who needs a saw back on a rescue tool?
there really is a lot that can go into this stuff and it all really depends on how much you want to spend , how far out there you expect to be and all of the rest, those are just two things that i think are great items that are seldomly mentioned for truck bags and the rest...if you got the room maybe consider a truckers tool as well..

that said, what's the new bag you got? i've been trying to find a good bag to hold all f my stuff in the truck, right now it's all just jammed into my cargo box....was looking at the rothco ones but i feel like rothco can be hit or miss on some of their stuff, some of it's awesome some of it's complete and utter crap....

I will be checking out that axe! My old partner at work has that knife seen him pry a car door (b post) part off the car enough we could get a spreader in to take door off. I picked up this level 3 pack from cheaper than dirt for my EDC I have the Level 5 bag as a bug out bag in the 4 runner. The lvl3 is slim perfect for in the ride. I got the majority of my supplies from my former Battalion Aid Station and Regimental Aid Station.
That's the "combat" stuff I have. The combat gauze, SAM splints, ect.
As for the rest, I can't divulge where my supplies come from.
It's a need to know basis, and you don't have the need to know.

I bought most of my supplies from a medic selling one of his go bags. The county I work for will let us buy supplies at cost in supply to finish up what I was missing and what I need to restock. A lot of good places on line to pick things up too. I will look for one I'm thinking of and post a link up.

Hey guys little update I've had my maxpedetion knock from condition1 for about five months now and its done really well. Havent gotten a rip or tare at the seams and you can carry a full sized pistol ipad or water bladder in rear hide away pouch with ease. Also got the fronts on the 08 tinted to match other day.

Thread revival! I wanna start putting together a 72-hour Bug Out Bag..I like all the suggestions here...what kinda bags are you guys using? What size bag should I look for? How many pockets? I was thinking of an old Navy Seabag but that's only got one way in and one way out so maybe a regular duffle bag? I see some of you are using smaller backpacks, how do you fit everything you need in them? What about some kind of MOLLE system to attach a second bag of med supplies?
