End of the road...

Traded my 4Runner this past week.

I purchased my '10 Limited in May 2010. Overall, a great experience and no issues - other than a rattle w/ the cargo tray that never got resolved.

Swapping out the Yokos for Nitto Terra Grapplers 275/55r/20s was the smartest thing I did and changed the ride to stellar for a stock 4Runner. No maintenance issues whatsoever.

Did some crazy shit that no one should probably do in a stock vehicle, but the 4Runner whether in the high/back country of Colorado or in Utah, never let me down. Only thing I didn't do was Bear Creek Pass, but my balls aren't big enough.

Ownership was downright cheap. Traded it for 28.2K w/ 68,000 miles. Paid 38.6K on a vehicle stickered @ 42.7K. Maintenance costs were minimal.

Props to an awesome forum and overall really good folk, including Dekeman, Quentin, SeattleMike, BFLAN, snow&surf, doorman, Harper, I AM SAM, Skel, Rigtec, Titanpat57, Antman, Brockeverly, and Qjake. (Edit... and, let me not forget, 1Engineer.)

Just wanted to thank those who helped answer the questions I could never locate w/ the Google search engine. My better half could never understand why I spent so much time on this site... but ya all know, its time well spent.

I bought mine in May, 2010 as well. I lovingly washed her Friday night. I'm not even close to kicking her to the curb. I may get a wandering eye when the 6th gen pics are released but I'll be faithful until then.

Well break my window! The BMW X5 looks interesting if you get the 4.4L V8. It's the kind of SUV you'll never take off-road.

The Beemer 5 series are among the worst rated cars in terms of value for the money, according to an article I recently read on MSNBC Auto news section . I couldn't find the article in a search today.

We had an Audi A4 3.2L 6 cylinder for a few years. My wife called it the bottle rocket. It was a lot of fun to drive but it cost us $1200 every time we even drove by the dealership or mechanic's shop.

Good luck with the X5. If you sell it when the warranty expires you'll be okay on repair costs.

I came through soon after that rock fell, amazing. They HEARD it in Moab :wow: Later the highway department did some blasting for more clearance.(yep that's a Utah highway not really a trail)

A hatch back car for an off-road vehicle is definitely a change. Could not imagine that.

My brother in law bought a new X5 about the same time I bought my 2003 4runner. He had some problems with it at the end. We both got rid of our vehicles about the same time (2014). We both got about the same price on trade in even though he paid a lot more for his X5 when it was new than my 4runner when new.

I have owned a 2011 M3. It was one of the most intoxicating fun vehicles I owned to date. No problems what so ever.

I will always own a Japanese car as a daily driver or family off road adventuremobile.

But as a pure drivers car nothing came close to my M3. I miss it so much that I am planning on get a M4 as a fun car to drive.

The x5s are nice.
My dad had a 2003 x5, and now a 2014 x5.
The 2014 seems more like a crossover, seems quite a bit bigger.

The only item that broke on the 2003 x5 was the sun roof. No issues yet on the 2014.
