if it was me i think i would put the trk up on jack stands and make sure all is operational . does the 4wd light come on when you engage the 4wd ? post some pics of the truck

On my first gen, I can't get it back into 2H unless the vehical is moving. Found this out the first time I used 4wd. It went from 4L to 4H no problem, but it would not go into 2H. I was freaking out a little bit, but it was not wobbling or shaking any, so I just kept dirving to our final meeting point. At some point back on the surface streets, I went to try while I was dirving and it just slipped in.
PS. Although it should be noted that I have Manual hubs, and they were unlocked. All of the above took place after I unlocked them.

Okay lifted I mean it's been raized smartass, and as for the disengaging I finally figured it out, my cousin came over and he happened to own a 88 SR5 back in his day so he figured out that you were right, After going from 4H to 2H, you're supposed to reverse to unlock the gear THAN you're fine.lol See thing was when I went liike that to the guys house, I parked it facing forward, he had to reverse out of the driveway so that's why he never felt the effects I did. But thank you people, I really appreciate the help and the response time :] I'm relieved NOW I know I can go hunting and take my precious with me and not have a problem also, yea the truck is pretty beat up so it has no light indicating when 4x4 is engaged.lol but I figured it out now. Thanks again guys! Ima post some pictures up when I get the time so people can see.
